What Tribes Existed In Africa Before And During The Transatlantic Slave Trade?

Can I have names and a little bit about them? The internet gives pages and pages of random stuff but very few names

One tribe that comes to mind is the Mandinka tribe that Kunya Kinte from Alex Haley’s “Roots” book came from. The sequel to Roots was named Mandingo.
I did a quick check on Google and in a web-site on the slave trade and Afro-American Ancestry it gives the names of about 50 African tribes and the parts of Africa they came from.
